1. The on-device principle
Suede Sing performs all of its singing-voice analysis — pitch detection, spectral analysis, register classification, range tracking, recommendation matching — locally on your iPhone using Apple's Accelerate framework and on-device classifiers. The microphone audio captured during a session is processed in memory on your device and is never uploaded to any Suede AI server, third-party server, or cloud service.
The app's App Privacy declaration in the App Store reflects this architecture: "Data Not Collected."
2. What is captured during a session
Microphone audio. During an active range test or practice session, Suede Sing records audio from your iPhone microphone. The audio buffer is held in memory only for the duration of the analysis, processed locally, and discarded once the session is complete or the app is closed. Suede Sing does not retain the raw audio after a session ends.
Derived measurements. The numeric outputs of the on-device analysis — your range bounds in MIDI, spectral feature values such as H1-H2 ratio and harmonic-to-noise ratio, register classifications, vibrato measurements, exercise-completion timestamps — are stored locally on your device in a SQLite database (the same database iOS apps routinely use for offline state). These measurements form your "TonePrint" history.
Where they live. The TonePrint database lives in the app's local sandbox container on your iPhone. iOS isolates this from other apps. iCloud Backup will include this database if and only if you have iCloud Backup enabled for the device — that backup is encrypted by Apple and not accessible to Suede AI.
3. What Suede Sing does not collect
- No account is created. There is no signup. There is no login.
- No name, email address, phone number, or contact information is requested or stored.
- No third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, attribution SDKs, or tracking pixels are integrated into the app.
- No social-graph access, no contacts access, no photo-library access, no calendar access.
- No audio is transmitted to any server, including ours.
- No biometric identifiers are derived or stored.
4. Permissions the app requests
Microphone access. Required to perform the singing-voice analysis. iOS will display a system prompt the first time you start a session. You may revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > Suede Sing.
Notifications (optional). If you enable practice reminders, Suede Sing schedules local notifications on your device. The notification content (e.g., reminder text) is generated locally; nothing is sent to a push-notification server about the content.
5. Network activity
Suede Sing v1.0 has no networked feature that handles your singing audio or measurements. The app may make outbound network calls only for the following narrow purposes:
- Downloading static drill content (audio reference tones, exercise descriptions) from our content delivery network the first time a drill is opened — analogous to a podcast app downloading episode metadata.
- Loading external links you tap (the privacy policy you are currently reading, the Terms of Use, the founder's website) in your iOS browser.
None of these calls include your singing audio or your TonePrint measurements.
6. Third-party services
Suede Sing v1.0 does not integrate any third-party SDKs that collect personal data. The only third party in the architecture is the content delivery network that serves static drill assets, which receives standard server logs (IP address, request timestamp, file requested) for those file requests but no information about the user beyond what every iOS app's network requests reveal.
7. Children
Suede Sing is rated 4+ and is intended for general audiences including young singers. Because the app does not collect any personal information, there is no information about a child to retain, share, or delete. Parents and guardians remain in control of microphone permission via iOS Settings.
8. Your rights and your data
Because Suede Sing does not collect any personal information about you, there is generally no Suede-AI-held data to access, correct, port, or delete on your behalf. You can delete the entire TonePrint database — and all derived measurements — at any time by uninstalling the app from your iPhone.
If you have questions about your rights under the CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, or another applicable privacy law as it relates to Suede Sing specifically, email privacy@suedeai.org.
9. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Suede Sing introduces a feature that processes data differently — for example, an opt-in cloud sync for the TonePrint, or a coach-share export — we will update this policy and surface the change inside the app before any such feature is enabled for your account.
