Suede AI vs Bernstein

Bernstein and Suede AI share a principle: put a fingerprint of the file on a public chain so the proof does not depend on the company. They part ways on who the record is for and what one costs.

Short Answer

Which is the better blockchain registry for creative work?

For music and creative work, Suede AI IP Registry. A record costs about a cent in network fees, names every contributor in a signed claim, and links remixes to their source on Base and Avalanche. As of November 2026, Bernstein starts at $54 a month for one registration, or $64 per registration pay as you go.

Suede AI IP Registry

What is Suede AI IP Registry?

Suede AI IP Registry is a public provenance registry and the ID and trust layer for music. Upload a finished file and the registry takes a SHA-256 fingerprint of those exact bytes. You sign a creator claim that lists your contributors and a rights declaration, and the chain timestamps it. The whole thing takes about two minutes and costs about a cent in network fees as of November 2026.

FingerprintA SHA-256 hash of the exact file, so a different export gets its own record.
ClaimA wallet-signed claim naming the creator, every contributor and a rights declaration.
TimestampBlock time on Base or Avalanche mainnet, with identical contract bytecode on both.
LineageRemixes, covers, samples and AI-assisted versions link on-chain to their parent work.

Each work gets an ERC-721 certificate and its own on-chain IP account. Signing up creates a smart wallet for you, with no seed phrase and nothing to install. Your rights stay with you, and anyone can check the record on a public explorer without asking Suede AI. Read more about what a creation record shows and how provenance travels with a work.

Bernstein

What is Bernstein?

Bernstein has offered blockchain certificates for intellectual property since 2016. Files are encrypted in the browser, a cryptographic fingerprint goes onto the Bitcoin blockchain, and each new version's certificate builds on the one before it. Scale and Enterprise plans add an EU qualified timestamp and a Chinese trusted timestamp, and anyone can verify an exported certificate without Bernstein.

Bernstein pitches itself to organizations and IP teams, with trade secrets among its listed use cases, and keeps the file itself private through client-side encryption.

Why Suede AI

Why do creators choose Suede AI over Bernstein?

Register the whole session

At about a cent per record as of November 2026, every bounce, stem and alternate take can have its own fingerprint.

Credits travel with the work

The wallet-signed claim lists contributors and a rights declaration, so the people behind a track are part of the record.

Two public chains

Records sit on Base and Avalanche mainnet with identical contract bytecode, and anyone can check them without asking Suede AI.

Two minutes, no setup

Sign-up creates a smart wallet for you. No seed phrase, nothing to install.
